A-grade catalytic development title
Umhlanga Arch has not only been awarded as the best marketed development in South Africa; it has also been given the title of an A-grade catalytic development. The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Growth and Development Plan (PGDP) Catalytic Projects list helps identify public or private sectors who will directly stimulate and leverage much higher levels of development.
Catalytic projects can address wide-scale regional needs, unlock downstream infrastructure services and also structurally change the economy. The impact of these projects can be measured by the number of jobs created, the degree to which the mixed-use development will be promoted and the rates income in the foreseeable future. Umhlanga Arch, once completed, will inject around R1.3 billion into the province.
“We believe strongly in the need for economic transformation, and the creation of jobs. In this regard, we continue to be focused on the importance of Private/Public Partnerships. We have worked closely with the Durban Investment Promotion arm of the City Council under Russell Curtis who, together with the guidance of Phillip Sithole, has helped us to engage with Madam Mayor Zandile Gumede, a lady with a sincere vision to bring our city to new heights through projects such as this,” says Terry Rosenberg, Chairman of The Multiply Group.
